Creative Writing- Frozen

I stood frozen staring across the field, frozen in place by the ice in the air. The body laid contorted, a small whimpering coming out. The sound much too small to be coming from an adult body. It cried out in agonizing pain. A yelp that cause the lips to draw back and the chin to curl down in the chest. I dropped to my knees as the body flops on its back; hair matted with grass and sweat beading across the face where hair wasn't stuck. Our eyes widening at the same time. The misty figure appearing over the body. Both of us with fear tightening the jaws, one for death and one for fear of discovery.

The misty figure dipped its head close to the body giving a chilling moan before tipping its head back and unhinging its jaw like a python that finally was getting its prey. A moment of silence across the field as the world lie still watching and waiting for the next move.

A tiny glistening stream of fog pulled between the two. I gasp as if feeling the life sucked out of me instead. The figure only leaning closer inhaling the stream, running its hand down its neck, satisfied with the meal.
